The female guppy is no longer than 4–6 centimeters and the male no longer than 2.5–3.5 centimeters, but some guppies, depending on their water conditions, may be less.

Easy to take care of - you can go on a holiday for a week without worrying about your guppy,
They breed like rabbits (healthy mature females can breed up to 20 - 60 fries a month) - so they are good for breeders,
they are good community fish, you can keep them with many other types of fish like platies, swordtails and mollies plus many more other fish, normally the small peaceful fish. Keeping them with bigger fish isn't such an ideal idea because bigger fish may eat the smaller guppy.
Feeder guppy and fancy guppy. The difference?
The difference is that feeder guppy are fed to other fish and they can mate with whoever they want, but fancy guppy are not fed to other fishes and they are put with the nicest male and the nicest female put together so they mate and breed the nicest guppy.
The diet of a guppy is easy to for fill;
they enjoy tropical fish flakes,
color enhancing food,
live supplements; live brine shrimp,
dried supplements; dry brine shrimp.
The food for fry is similar to these, the just like it crushed to bite size.
In the old days, guppies where a lot more hardy, but nowadays since they are breed for their tails they are loosing their hardiness. If you don't want to have the most beautiful tail and just quite a pretty hardy fish, get a guppy at the pet store labeled feeder guppy. Feeder guppy are pretty, but not the prettiest and they are normally fed to bigger fish.
If you keep several guppies together, they will form a beautiful school and sometimes swim to places together.
As guppies breed so quickly, it earned them the nickname of Million Fish.
The best medicine for a guppy is normally actually peas with the skin taken of it.
The lifespan of a well look after guppy is about one and a half years to three years, but some can even live to five.
Guppy are not feisty fish and go well next other tropical fish, but putting them in a tank with big fish may resort of the bigger fish eating the guppy.
No two guppies are the same.
Guppies are a good fish for novice fish keepers, becasue they are quite easy to take care of.
Guppies can also be albino, like humans. Albino guppies have red eyes and their body is slightly pale.
Guppy in more recent times have been found in Asia, mostly Singapore, where they are bred as fancy guppies (a guppy with tweaks in it's diet that makes it have a massive, beautiful, colourful tail) and sold to pet shops around the world.
They are a bit like humans and do not lay eggs, but have babies straight from their stomach.
If you hover your hand around a tank with guppies in it, they will follow your hand, expecting food.
Guppy enjoy having green in the tank, because when fry are born they are weak so they rest on or between them, feeling and being safe. Even adults enjoy hiding between green, mostly when female is pregnant.
Guppy can have babies (if healthy) at about one and a half months, (possibly even one month) but these guppy fry are not very healthy guppies. This event is rare and the normal guppy will have it's first fry when it is 3 - 4 months.
